Your Weekly Update

👋 Hi! How are you this week?
Me? I've been thinking about this picture ⬇️
It shows the Swedish Prime Minister Tage Erlander using an Ericsson videophone to speak with Lennart Hyland, a popular TV show host in 1969. (credit: Wikipedia)
Compare that to the image directly below of a modern-day video meeting. Goodbye rotary phone and clunky monitors, hello live chat and flying emojis! It's clear that we have come a long way ⬇️
Video calls are no longer reserved for heads of state and celebrities in suits. They’re used by everyday people doing all kinds of things; and it's possible because of the commitment developers have made to sharing knowledge.
🫶 This is why peerConnection is open to all developers. Regardless of the tools you choose, we want to share knowledge with you; because the evolution of video communication is directly related to the number of people who comprehend the underlying technology.
📘 Sharing knowledge this week on peerConnection:
- Kicking off on Tuesday, @vr000m aka Dr. Varun Singh will be available to answer your questions about the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and its WebRTC Working Group.
- On Wednesday, look for a discussion started by @Lazer that expands on her Daily blog post about creating a cursor sharing feature for video calls.
- Also this Wednesday, join @jayne & @karl on Twitch as they chat about development tools and practices. You are invited to ask questions in the chat!
In case you missed it, here are some other discussions happening right now. What knowledge can you share with the community about these topics? ✋
- Do you prefer a built in camera or external?
- What are your media track handling tips?
- Will AI ever fully replace healthcare providers?
🤸♀️ Thanks for being here. I'll see you in the forum!
